Kibibyte is a digital storage unit used to express file size, memory or device capacity.
Binary prefixes such as kibi- (1,024), mebi- and gibi- were introduced by the IEC in 1998 so that powers of two would no longer be confused with the decimal SI prefixes kilo-, mega- and giga-.
